Oracle Web ADI Configurations Guide


This is for version 11.5.10-
Note: Check with Oracle for latest information regarding setup/configurations
 
·         Setting profile value-

Navigation-
System Administrator > System > Enter profile ‘BNE UIX Physical Directory’ and click on Find.

Then at Site level enter full path of directory $COMMON_TOP/html/cabo and click on Save button.
For example- For DEVL instance full path of directory $COMMON_TOP/html/cabo is ‘/u90/oracle/devlcomn/html/cabo’
 

 

If you are using office 2010-
·         Install the Excel 2010 and Word 2010 viewers for WebADI by applying the appropriate patch below:
(Confirm with with Oracle before applying these patches or any additional patches required)
 
11i.ATG_PF.H.RUP 7 users (Patch 6241631) must apply Patch 10107858 by following its readme.
Additional steps given by Oracle to be performed by DBA when we were not able to create document in Excel 2010-
1. Regenerate JAR files using adadmin in each middle tier:
  Launch ADADMIN (Ensure you are APPLMGR with permissions to write to adadmin.log)

Choose option number 2 to Maintain Files, then 10 to regenerate JAR Files making sure to select  FORCE = Y
2. Bounce middle tier.
3. Images and style sheets can be corrupted or out of sync in the cabo caches; you may need to clear the related directories after backup:
$OA_HTML/cabo/images/cache
$OA_HTML/cabo/styles/cache

 

Prerequisites for accessing Oracle Web Applications Desktop Integrator



The following are the prerequisites for Web ADI:

One of the following operating systems must be installed on the client PC:
·         Windows ME
·         Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3 or later
·         Windows 2000
·         Windows XP
·         Windows 98
·         Windows 7

Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater installed on your machine.

One of the following versions of Excel:
·         97
·         2000
·         2003
·         2007
·         2010


Below steps needs to be done by individual user for accessing WebADI using excel 2010 from their local desktop

·         Microsoft Excel Configuration Requirements for WebADI Integration
To integrate Microsoft Excel with WebADI, make sure the following settings are enabled in Microsoft Excel and
Internet Explorer on the user’s desktop.

Macro Security Settings for Microsoft Excel-

Microsoft Excel 2010 Users

Click ' File' -> 'Options'
Click 'Trust Center' link in the 'Excel Options' window.
Click 'Trust Center Settings...' button.
In the 'Trust Center' window click 'Macro Settings' link from the menu on the left.
Under 'Macro Settings' check 'Disable all macros with notification'.
Under 'Developer Macro Settings' check 'Trust Access to the VBA project object model'.
Click 'OK' button to close the 'Trust Center' window.
Click 'OK' button to return to the spreadsheet.

Protected View In Microsoft Excel-

If the WebADI spreadsheet is being saved to and opened from a potentially unsafe location on the desktop, users may see the following message in Excel:

 
This message may be suppressed by either, adding the download directory as an exception, or by disabling 'Protected View' for desktop locations by using one of the following options:
Trusting a Download Directory-
You can add the download directory on the desktop as trusted through the following Excel option:
'Options' -> 'Trust Center' -> 'Trust Center Settings' -> 'Trusted Locations'
 
Disabling 'Protected View-
To turn off Protected View on the desktop to prevent this message appearing 'uncheck' the following Excel option:
'Options' -> 'Trust Center' -> 'Trust Center Settings' -> 'Protected View' -> 'Enable Protected View for files located in potentially unsafe locations'
 
Note: In certain circumstances having this option set (checked) may cause Excel to hang when trying to create a WebADI document.
 

·         Internet Explorer Configuration Requirements for Excel Interface-

 
File Download Setting-
Select 'Tools' -> 'Internet Options -> 'Security' (Tab) from the browser menu.
Select the appropriate zone e.g. 'Internet' -> 'Custom Level' (button)
Under the 'Downloads' section ensures 'File download' is enabled.
 
Scripting Setting-
Select 'Tools' -> 'Internet Options -> 'Security' (Tab) from the browser menu.
Select the appropriate zone you are using e.g. 'Internet' -> 'Custom Level' (button)
Set 'Allow Status bar updates via script' to 'Enable'.
 
ActiveX Controls and plug-ins Setting-
Security settings to allow a spreadsheet to be created on your desktop as follows:
Select 'Tools' -> 'Internet Options -> 'Security' (Tab) from the browser menu.
Select the appropriate zone you are using e.g. ‘Internet' -> 'Custom Level' (button)
Set the option 'Initialize and script Active X controls not marked as safe' to 'Prompt' or 'Enable' .
 
Delete temporary files-
 
- go to menu Tools => Internet Options,
- select 'General' tab,
- click on button 'Delete Files' in 'Temporary Internet files' area
or
- click on button 'Delete...' then in 'Delete Browsing History' pop-up window click on 'Delete Files...'
- close all IE windows and restart new browser session.
 
 

Steps needs to be done by System Administrator

 
Assigning ‘Desktop Integration’ responsibility to user-

Navigation-
System Administrator > Security > User > Define > Click F11 > Enter user name > Click on Ctrl F11
Then Click on responsibility and click on  this icon. Select ‘Desktop Integration’ from list of values and
Save.
 
 
 

Accessing Oracle Web Application Desktop Integrator

 
Login
Log into Oracle Applications and navigate to your personal homepage. Under
Navigate, click Desktop Integration.

 
 

 

Process Flow for Oracle Web Applications Desktop Integrator-
 
Web ADI uses the following process to upload data to the Oracle E-Business Suite:
1. Define a layout that determines what fields appear in your spreadsheet.
2. Define a mapping to allow data to be imported into the spreadsheet.
3. Create the spreadsheet.
4. Upload the data to the Oracle E-Business Suite.
5. Monitor the progress of your upload.
